The standard we build to

To support this commitment, we build lionsville.nl to the standards set by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). These internationally recognized guidelines help us ensure that our content is perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust.

The conformance target for this version of the site is WCAG 2.1, Level AA, and we are working toward 2.2, Level AA. We have already adopted parts of 2.2 — buttons, navigation and footer links and form controls are all at least 44 pixels tall, comfortably beyond the 24 pixels that 2.2 asks for at Level AA. We do not claim full conformance with either version, and this page says plainly which parts are done and which are not.

Our approach to accessibility

We take several steps to maintain and improve the accessibility of our website:

• Continuous monitoring and improvement — we test our website using automated tools, manual checks, and third-party reviews to identify and address potential accessibility issues.
• Design with accessibility in mind — our site templates emphasize proper color contrast, logical heading structure, and consistent navigation.
• Code for compatibility — we aim to ensure that all pages work seamlessly with assistive technologies, including screen readers and keyboard navigation.
• Provide alternatives for non-text content — images, video, and audio content are accompanied by appropriate alternative text, captions, or transcripts whenever possible.

While we work hard to meet Level AA across our entire website, we acknowledge that some content may occasionally fall short. If you encounter any barriers or have suggestions for improvement, we encourage you to let us know.

What this rebuild fixed

This site was rebuilt from scratch in 2026. Accessibility was the reason for most of the work, so it is worth being specific about what changed:

• Descriptive alternative text on every image — sixteen of the nineteen images on the old homepage shipped with an empty alt attribute, which left screen reader users with nothing at all. Every image now carries text describing what it shows. Only genuinely decorative artwork is marked as decorative, so that assistive technology can skip past it.
• A skip link you can actually see — the previous one rendered at a single pixel square. “Skip to content” is now the first item in the tab order and becomes fully visible the moment it receives focus, so keyboard users can jump the navigation.
• Interactive targets of at least 44 pixels — buttons, navigation and footer links, and form controls all clear a 44-pixel minimum height, so they can be hit reliably by touch or by an imprecise pointer.
• Heading order that holds together — every page has exactly one level-one heading, and levels descend without skipping. This page is its own example: it used to jump from the title straight to a level-four heading and then back up to level three.
• Text contrast of at least 4.5:1 — the brand purple carrying headings and links was #6940b1, which measures 2.96:1 against our black background and fails WCAG 1.4.3. It has been lifted to #8a5cdb, which measures 4.63:1. The original purple is still part of the brand, but it is now used only as a fill or as decoration, never behind words.
• Focus that is always visible — keyboard focus draws a three-pixel outline in a high-contrast lilac, offset from the element so it stays legible on dark backgrounds.
• Motion that respects your settings — if your device asks for reduced motion, animations and smooth scrolling are switched off rather than merely shortened.

Body text was also enlarged. It ran at roughly 13 pixels before; it now starts at 17 pixels, scales with the viewport, and prose lines are capped at about 68 characters so that reading does not depend on tracking a 140-character line back to its start.

What we are still working on

• The 2.2-only success criteria — focus appearance, dragging movements, consistent help and redundant entry have been reviewed informally but not formally audited. Until they are, our claim stays at 2.1 Level AA.
• Independent testing — everything above was assessed by us. We have not yet commissioned an external audit or published a formal conformance report, and we have not tested with every combination of browser and screen reader.
• Content we host elsewhere — our films live on YouTube and our vacancies live on lionsville.breezy.hr. We link out to both rather than embedding them, which keeps this site clean, but it also means those pages are outside our control and are not covered by this statement.
• Captions and transcripts — captions on our video come from the platform we publish to. We have not yet written a transcript for every clip.
• Inherited copy — some text carried over from the previous site is still denser and more abbreviation-heavy than we would like. We are editing it down page by page rather than in one pass.
